Cody Crowley bravely spoke through tears as he gave an emotional post-fight interview about his father's suicide on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old welterweight contender admitted to having struggled badly with his own mental health in recent times, but insisted he would keep fighting.
In his bout which opened the PPV undercard of David Benavidez vs Caleb Plant, Crowley beat Abel Ramos by majority decision.
It was his first fight since April 2022 and also his first since his father took his own life nine months ago.
Despite this horrific tragedy, Crowley was determined to return to the ring and earn a victory for his family in the WBC eliminator.
“This fight gave me something else," Crowley said through tears as he began a powerful speech in his post-fight interview.
“I worked my whole entire life for this opportunity.
“The last two years I didn’t wanna live because I couldn’t get my shot.
“Fights getting cancelled, I’d been training since July.
“I’ve been broke and I wanted to take my own life, but I didn’t.

“But my dad did.
“If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here today.
“Anyone who’s thinking about taking their own life, who doesn’t wanna be here, I am proof that you can keep fighting and you will win.”
