AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday was the first time in a year that AEW went head-to-head with NXT, and they ended up losing this time around. However, people were also talking about an angle with antisemitic implications, which featured MJF. Eric Bischoff has now commented on the controversial angle as well.

As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, The Bullet Club Gold came out and made fun of MJF after last week’s events. This included Juice Robinson bringing out a roll of quarters with “FRIEDMAN” written across and stating that he would throw coins at his face, which infuriated MJF.

Many fans were outraged by this segment due to its anti-semitic nature, especially as the ongoing conflict in Israel continues to make headlines. While speaking on Strictly Business, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff addressed the controversial angle and stated that it was “ill-timed” and AEW made a mistake by going through with it. He also said it reflected a lack of judgment on Tony Khan’s part.

“The judgment to use antisemitism as the premise for a story, under these circumstances, reflects a lack of judgment both on MJF’s part and more importantly, on Tony Khan’s part.”

Tony Khan also addressed the controversial angle in private DMs instead of public forum. Regardless, we certainly hope Tony Khan learned from his mistake and never repeats it again.
