Francois Phillipus Lodewyk Steyn (born 14 May 1987) is a South African Rugby Union player who plays for the South Africa national team and Cheetahs in Pro14.
He is the only South African rugby player to have won the Rugby World Cup twice,12 years apart after helping Springboks beat England In the 2007 finals in France.
He started his career with the Boks but is now pursuing his profession in France with Racing memo 92. He moved to Paris after the British and Irish Lions tour in 2009. He is popular for his long-distance kicking ability.
After playing 10 matches for natal shark, he then gained recognition from South African coach Jake White and was called up to the Springboks squad.
He impressed tri-nations in 2007 with a goal against Australia in the opening game which made them win the match. He was one of the few selected for the world cup Squad. He had secured for himself a position for the rest of the tournament.
Francois Steyn is therefore the youngest player to win a Rugby World Cup. In his last match for South Africa, he converted three penalties from his own side of the field. He then left for France in 2012.

Early Life
Francois Steyn is the son of Marcia Steyn and Piet Steyn. He was born on the 14th of May 1987 in Aliwal North, South Africa. He is the brother of Willem Steyn.
He began his career as a teenage rugby player in South Africa where he played 10 matches before being noticed by the South African coach. He became famous for his long-distance kicking. He then played for the tournament and he has won two world cup Matches.

Career
Francois Steyn started his career with the Boks at the age of nineteen but is now pursuing his profession in France with Racing memo 92.
He relocated to Paris after the British and Irish Lions tour in 2009. He is well-known for his long-distance kicking ability in a super 14 match against the Throne Bumbles, he kicked the ball 100 meters. He earned recognition from South African coach Jake White and was called up to the Springboks Squad to tour England and Ireland at the age of 19.
He impressed tri-nations in 2007 with a goal against Australia in the opening game which made them win the match. He was then selected for the world cup Squad. He had secured the inside center position for the rest of the tournament.
He made a great break that led to a penalty for the Boks, he is, therefore, the youngest player to win a Rugby World Cup.
On the 24th of September 2007, he was involved in a controversy where he was allegedly said to have bitten Tongan Winger, Joseph Vaka during the springboks’ Tonga 2007 World Cup game, he was then restricted from playing for the rest of the year.
He was subsequently acquitted of his charges due to insufficient evidence. In the Springboks final match of the 2009 Tri-Nations against New Zealand, he converted three penalties from his own side of the field. That was his last match before He left for France in 2012.
Francois Steyn reached the 50th test cup against Argentina in Cape Town being the youngest South African to reach that height.
In 2007, he was recalled to South Africa as a replacement for an injured player. In 2019 he was called again for South Africa to play in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. He currently plays for Herault Rugby.
