Heidi Klum is spending the holidays in her bathing suit. In a new social media post the German supermodel shows off her amazing body in a bathing suit, while frolicking on the shoreline of St. Barths with husband Tom Kaulitz. "….. and thats a wrap on Christmas," she captioned a series of Instagram snaps and videos. How does the 50-year-old manage to look half her age? Celebwell rounded up her top lifestyle habits.
Klumn maintains that eating pickled (or fermented) foods is the key to success for her looking so young. One of her favorite dishes to promote longevity? Her family's sauerkraut soup recipe. She also drinks a shot of apple cider vinegar in the morning. There is limited research that ACV may help to reduce high cholesterol and regulate blood glucose levels. However, it may damage the teeth or throat due to the acidity of the mixture. The best way to take it is by mixing one tbsp of ACV with water and drinking it through a straw.
Klum has a few digestion hacks up her sleeve. "Maybe this doesn't work for everyone, but I learned in this clinic that I went to for two weeks with my husband because he had these horrible headaches, is that you're not meant to drink anything while you eat," she revealed in an interview. "Not a half an hour before, not during, not a half an hour afterwards. So you're supposed to drink throughout the day, but not when you are eating because it dilutes our stomach acid. And then the stomach acid is too weak to break down the food. So that's important."
Klum also avoids eating raw food at night "So no raw vegetables, you know, like carrots or anything like that," she explained. "It is terrible to do that. Same with fruit or salad. So in the past I've always been chowing down on salad, but what happens is when you lay down at night, you go into rest mode and your poor stomach and your intestines need to rest. So if you're doing all these things like that, it can't rest. So it's super busy getting through all that uncooked food."
Klum prefers eating at home over restaurants. "I don't really eat out a lot," Klum told Entertainment Tonight. "I think when you eat out a lot or order food in a lot, it kind of gets a little tricky because you don't know what people are putting in there."
"I try to eat as healthy as I can," Klum told Harper's Bazaar Malaysia. "We have a big vegetable garden and every night we make a giant salad from it for dinner. When I am working, I try to fill up on snacks l enjoy like fruit, greek yogurt or almonds instead of chips and cookies from the craft service table. But, don't get me wrong, some days there is nothing better than a Big Mac, fries with mayo and a Coca-Cola!"
Klum obviously engages in some calorie blasting activities. "I like running on the treadmill but my schedule fluctuates a lot so I don't always work it into my day. I have to be creative of where I get my exercise in. I jump on the trampoline with my kids or have a nightly after-dinner dance party or we take our dogs for a hike," she told Harper's Bazaar Malaysia.
