In her testimony, Nancy Kissinger described the couple’s friendship with Brooke Astor. In 2002, Henry Kissinger’s wife attended Brooke Astor’s 100th birthday party but told the court that she didn’t think the late socialite recognized her. “I don’t believe she recognized me,” Ms. Kissinger said.

Nancy Kissinger Acquitted of Assault

The Brooke Astor case is not the only time Nancy made the news. Nancy Kissinger once again made headlines when she was accused and then acquitted of assault charges in ‘Throttling’ of a Woman at the Airport. She even earned the nickname “Bruiser” Nancy, according to The Washington Post.

Nancy was accused of allegedly throttling a woman who had insulted her husband Henry in Newark airport. Ellen Kaplan, a member of the Fusion Energy Foundation testified, according to the Washington Post, that Nancy “grabbed me, had me by the throat, put her face close to mine, sneered, bared her teeth–she was wearing braces, and I kept thinking she’s gonna bite me–and said, ‘Do you want to get slugged?’”

On the stand, Henry Kissinger’s wife, Nancy Kissinger did not deny that she had made the offer, the Outlet reported. But, she testified that she had been escorting her husband to Boston for a triple bypass heart operation and that he was under doctor’s orders to avoid “upset of any kind.” She said she had been merely trying to encourage Kaplan to clear out.

“I’m so glad it’s over. Anything I say is going to sound idiotic. I’m just so grateful it’s finished,” Nancy said after she was acquitted of the assault. Kaplan on the other hand said that an “injustice” had been done and went on to express the opinion that the Kissingers were treated like “the British royal family” in this country, The Washington Post reported.
