Sherri Shepherd is going through a lot right now in the middle of her divorce with her second husband and a custody battle with her first, but she’s a mommy again! The soon-to-be-former co-host of The View welcomed her second son earlier this week via surrogate. However, it’s not the happy moment that Shepherd initially thought it might be when she and her soon-to-be ex decided it was time to have a baby.
After only three years of marriage, her husband filed for divorce in recent months. If that’s not enough stress for her to deal with, he also applied for custody of the at the time unborn child. While this was ongoing, Shepherd was already in the midst of an ugly custody battle with her first husband over custody of their 9-year-old son, whom he claims is being raised by a nanny while Shepherd ignores him for work. She recently left court the victor in that case, but her battle over her new son is ongoing.
The baby was born in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, but Shepherd’s camp has not released any details about the baby, or whether or not Shepherd has been allowed or able to visit her newborn son. It’s still unclear if the talk show host is even allowed to have any part of the baby’s life. At the moment, she’s still dealing with the legalities and a court hearing is likely to occur sooner rather than later, especially given the fact that the baby is now present.
In the meantime, Shepherd is finishing out her final days on The View and she’s rehearsing for her next role playing the evil stepmother in the new Broadway rendition of Cinderella. She starts her role early next month, and will continue to rehearse throughout her ongoing custody battles with her current husband.
